In his column “Judgment calls” (Ticker, February 4), Mihir Sharma has taken the same line as Kapil Sibal, Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh and others who do not seem to realise that they are, in effect, arguing that once people are elected to an executive position, they must be allowed to steal (and/or allow stealing) in broad daylight without anyone raising any questions.
Are people in power not required to act in the interest of the greatest good of the greatest number at all times?
Isn’t a judgment call that turns out to be seriously wrong at a later date a sufficient cause for immediate resignation from power of the key people who took that judgment call?
